Shri D. B. N. Rao has officially taken over as the Director General of the Building Materials & Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC), Ministry of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation, Govt. of India. He was earlier Director General of the National Council for Cement & Building Materials, Ministry of Industry. Sh. Rao has rich experience in cement and construction industry and was till recently the Executive Director at Sanghi Industries Ltd. at Hyderabad.

Building Materials & Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC) set up in 1990 is an apex inter-ministerial organisation under the Ministry of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation, Govt. of India and works on cost-effective housing technologies and disaster management related areas (www.bmtpc.org).

The Mission of BMTPC is to “develop and operationalise a comprehensive and integrated approach for technology development, transfer and investment promotion to encourage application of environment-friendly & energy-efficient innovative materials manufacturing technologies and construction practices for housing and buildings in urban and rural areas”.
