A wide range of professionals from the city have offered their comments, observations and genuine concerns, ranging from spokespersons in various ministries, the DDA, NDMC and MCD as well as prominent architects, engineers and urbanists. Even Rashtrapati Bhavan “felt” and commented on the tremors, galvanizing the media as well as the meteorological department into action. Information is required in the public domain regarding the true relevance of these tremors, the forecast for the future, what is being to deal with the situation and safety measures that can be taken at both individual and community levels. BMTPC’s vulnerability atlas and Landslide Hazard Atlas as well as various disasters –resistant construction manuals and guidelines have been evolved in consultation with various organization.

These databases are being constantly updated in time with new development.  BMTPC with IIT-Kanpur has evolved a series of earthquake tips which advice the public as well as professionals on coping with earthquakes. These are also available on the websites of BMTPC and NICEE for download purpose and are valuable insights into the issue.
