The Indian Plywood Industry Research & Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore in close collaboration with the Forest Department, Government of Punjab organised a Northern Regional Workshop on Development of Plywood and Panel Products from Plantation Timbers at Chandigarh on 28th April, 2000. The Council participated both in the Exhibition and the Seminar. |

A special presentation was made on the technologies developed for Wood substitutes. Lt. Gen. JFR Jacob (Retd.) Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of UT of Chandigarh inaugurated the Workshop and Shri Surjit Kumar Jayani Hon’ble Forest Minister, Govt. of Punjab presided over the inaugural function. The dignatories visited the Council’s exhibition and appreciated the role being played by BMTPC in the area of cost effective and environment friendly building materials for housing. |

| Chief, Technology Marketing made a comprehensive presentation at the workshop on the technologies available for immediate transfer for commercialisation. The delegates comprising entrepreneurs, forestry officials, architects, civil engineers and builders evinced keen interest in the work of the Council particularly in the area of the innovative composite material. | |
