On
the occasion of the World Habitat Day,
04th
October, 2004, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Shri. B.L.Joshi and
Hon’ble Minister of State(Independent Charge) for Urban Employment & Poverty
Alleviation, Kumari Selja released the Directory of Indian Building Materials
and Products 2004-05 at a function organized by the Ministry at the India
Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Both the LG of Delhi and Minister complimented the
Building Materials & Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC) in bringing out the
Directory which is a well researched reference source for the building and
construction industry, professionals and other information seekers on the
sector.
The
Hon’ble Minister also released a Special Monograph on the theme of the World
Habitat Day 2004 – “Cities-Engines of Rural Development” contains articles by
experts on a range of topics on the above theme and a few case studies.
BMTPC,
an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Urban Employment and Poverty
Alleviation, is engaged in
propagation
of cost-effective and disaster resistant building construction materials,
technologies and techniques. BMTPC has developed and promoted 32 simple and
affordable manufacturing machines for production of newer building materials and
components with industrial waste as a major ingredient (flyash, redmud, gypsum
etc.,) The Council has also contributed significantly to the development of wood
substitutes and composite based doors and window shutters.
The
Directory of Indian Buildings Materials & Products has about 5000 companies
listed with product information and contact details. The current edition (6th
edition) consists of a new section giving information and data on all BIS
Standards and Specifications pertaining to construction related products and
practices. A few technical papers have also been included to highlight the
recent developments in the R&D in the buildings and construction material
industry. The entire Directory will be put on the BMTPC website (www.bmtpc.org)
very shortly and also an exclusive website will be created for the Directory
very soon.
The
Directory is a one-stop shop for all information and data on the building
material products and services. BMTPC alongwith its partner STEM (Centre for
Symbosis of Technology, Environment & Management) and the MASTER BUILDER have
also brought out the CD Version which is very moderately priced at Rs.250/- the
printed version of 550 pages is priced at Rs.900/-
