Signing of Contract Agreement for DHP at Villianur, Puducherry

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has sanctioned a Demonstration Housing Project (DHP) at Villianur, Puducherry under PMAY-U 2.0, promoting the use of innovative and emerging construction technologies.

A Contract Agreement was signed by BMTPC with M/s Cactus Profiles Pvt Ltd., Noida on 2 June 2026 for the construction of 40 housing units along with associated amenities using Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) Technology with rockwool infill. The project will be utilized as a Working Women Hostel.

An established construction system in countries such as Japan, Australia and North America, LGSF technology uses factory-manufactured galvanized light gauge steel components produced through cold-forming processes. These components are assembled at site into structural panels, creating a steel framework for buildings.

The technology offers several advantages, including longevity, faster construction, structural strength and efficient use of resources, making it a promising solution for sustainable and modern housing development.
